Faith Bicknell is the first full-time assistant women’s soccer coach in Wingate University’s history. She was hired in August of 2008. Faith (Joslin) Bicknell is no stranger to the Bulldogs. She played two seasons (2000, 2001) at Wingate before transferring to Georgia Southern University where she played her remaining two seasons for the Eagles.

Bicknell was a strong asset scoring eight goals and adding seven assists for the 2000 Bulldogs, helping Wingate to a then-school record (tying) 11 victories. She scored three match-winning goals for the 2000 Wingate team, tallying two goals in a match three times. In 2001, Bicknell scored four goals and added three assists as the Bulldogs set a then-school record with 12 wins in a season.

At GSU, she helped the 2002 Eagles finish third in the tough Southern Conference with 12 victories. In 2003, she served as a team captain for the GSU Eagles. Bicknell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Georgia Southern in the fall of 2004. She worked two years as a registered nurse at Duke University Medical Center and one year at Anderson (S.C.) Medical Center before accepting the position at Wingate University.

“Faith is a tremendous addition to our coaching staff,” Wingate head coach Gary Curneen says. “She understands the South Atlantic Conference and what it takes to succeed in our league and our region. Her work ethic and her insights will be crucial to our future successes.”

Bicknell is also involved in volunteer activities. She made a medical mission trip with the Christian Medical/Dental Association to Zambia, Africa in the spring of 2006. While in Zambia, she helped her team provide free medical care to more than 2000 people in two weeks. In addition, Bicknell has been involved with Operation Christmas Child and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She is a member of the Chi Omega fraternity.

Bicknell is married to former Bulldog baseball student-athlete Toby Bicknell. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Wingate University in 2002. Toby Bicknell is an assistant baseball coach at Davidson College.
