Kathryn Smith started all 19 matches in goal for the Bulldogs in 2006. She had an overall record of 11-9 between the pipes. Kathryn Smith made 69 saves, had a 1.34 GAA and notched six shutouts. Two of her shutouts were in SAC play.

Smith allowed only 18 goals in 1504 minutes as a true freshman. Smith had six shutouts and 79 saves during her first season. Smith earned many honors in soccer and basketball at Sun Valley High School. In soccer, she was South Piedmont Conference player of the year as a senior. She was All-SPC and All-Union County for three seasons each. A Beta Club student, she was female athlete of the year at Sun Valley three years in a row.
