CADDIGAN INDUCTED INTO POTOMAC
SENIOR HIGH SPORTS HOF

Dumfries, Va.----Wingate University head softball coach Michelle Caddigan was inducted into the Potomac Senior High School Sports Hall of Fame Sunday evening in ceremonies held at the Quality Inn Dumfries. The Potomac Senior High School Sports Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to celebrate the school’s 25th anniversary.

Caddigan (class of 1986) is one of 14 first-year inductees. A graduate of James Madison University, Caddigan continues to lead the Bulldogs to new heights. In eight seasons at the helm of the Bulldog program, Caddigan has compiled an overall record of 257-136-2 (78-32 South Atlantic Conference). Caddigan reached the 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250-win plateau quicker than any other softball coach in SAC history.

In 2004, Caddigan picked up her 250th win. She led the Bulldogs to an overall record of 31-16 last season. Wingate finished in second place in the SAC regular season standings with a league record of 9-5. The Bulldogs were also ranked 15th in the nation in NCAA Division II team GPA (3.335).

In 2003, Caddigan was named the South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year. The Bulldogs compiled a 34-15 overall record in 2003 (11-3 SAC), winning the Food Lion SAC post-season tournament and earning the school’s first-ever bid to the NCAA Division II softball play-offs. Wingate has never finished lower than third in the SAC regular season wars (in the Caddigan era).

In the spring of 1999, Caddigan led the Bulldog to both the regular season and conference tournament championships, marking the first time in softball school history for such an accomplishment. Caddigan was also selected as the 1999 SAC Coach of the Year.

Caddigan earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in K-12 health and physical education from James Madison University in 1990. She earned her Masters of Science from James Madison in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Administration. In addition to her duties as head softball coach, Caddigan is Wingate’s Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). She also teaches several courses each year in the University’s Sport Sciences department.
