Wingate University is pleased to provide you with this information regarding our aquatic programs at the Cannon Athletic Complex. We continue to build a comprehensive aquatic program to allow the surrounding community access to our facilities at Wingate University. Listed below is a brief description of our aquatic offerings. Visit the website at http://www.sports.wingate.edu/swimmingmens/Aquatic_Programs.asp Swimming Lessons Wingate’s swimming lesson program will be offered in the spring, summer and fall. The schedules will be mailed out in the early spring. Each session consists of a total of four hours of instruction broken into eight (8) half-hour lessons. We teach competitive swimming techniques, basic survival and safety in and around the pool. Our class sizes are limited to insure quality instruction. Memberships Wingate offers pool memberships. We offer a school-year membership, a summer membership or an annual membership. A membership can be obtained as an Individual, Couple or Family. We have extended our summer memberships hours. Swim School/Swim Team If your child has reached level five in the swimming lesson program, you may want to consider the Union County Aquatic Team (UCAT). The UCAT program offers swim school and swim team programming. If your child wants to continue to strengthen his or her swimming skills but does not wish to compete, then we suggest the swim school. If he or she has an interest in competing in the sport of swimming, we suggest the swim team. UCAT is registered with United States Swimming Association as a local member with North Carolina Swimming. Pool Rentals If you are planning that next party or event and you would like to try something different, call and ask about our rental rates for our swimming pool. The pool can be rented year-round and is a great place to host an adult swim or child’s birthday party. Rates and availability must be made 30 days in advance. Senior Lifesaving and WSI Classes Each spring, Wingate will offer a Senior Lifesaving course and a Water Safety Instructors course. If you are looking to teach swimming lessons or would like to become a guard at a swimming pool or lake, this would be the class or classes for you. All scheduling and pricing will be seasonal, based on interest in the class. Please call for more information at 704-233-8167. ****NO RESTRICTIONS**** Memberships
are not required to participate in our programming. Each
offering is individual and does not require you to join other
